Compare the2027 Chevrolet BoltVS 2026 Toyota bZ

2027 Chevrolet Bolt
2026 Toyota bZ

Safety

Both the Bolt and the bZ have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The Bolt’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the bZ’s (6 vs. 5 years).

There are over 2 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Toyota dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Bolt’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Toyota vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 22 more problems per 100 vehicles, Toyota is rated below average.

bZ XLE Plus/Limited electric motor

Fuel Economy and Range

The Bolt can travel longer on a full charge than the bZ XLE FWD with its standard motor (262 miles vs. 236 miles).

Tires and Wheels

The Bolt’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the bZ XLE’s standard 60 series tires.

The Bolt has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The bZ doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the Bolt’s turning circle is 2.3 feet tighter than the bZ’s (37.7 feet vs. 40 feet).

Chassis

The Chevrolet Bolt may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 650 pounds less than the Toyota bZ.

The Bolt is 1 foot, 3 inches shorter than the bZ, making the Bolt easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Bolt uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The bZ doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Passenger Space

The Bolt has 2.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the bZ (96.6 vs. 94.4).

The Bolt has 1.4 inches more front headroom, 2.2 inches more front legroom, .7 inches more rear headroom, 3.8 inches more rear legroom and 5.3 inches more rear hip room than the bZ.

Ergonomics

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Bolt has a standard rear wiper. The bZ doesn’t offer a rear wiper.
