Compare the2026 Chevrolet Blazer EVVS 2026 Cadillac Lyriq

Both the Blazer EV and the Lyriq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning, available front parking sensors and driver alert monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Chevrolet Blazer EV is safer than the Cadillac Lyriq:

There are over 5 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Cadillac dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Blazer EV’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 22 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chevrolet 5 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

As tested in Car and Driver the Blazer EV SS electric motors is faster than the Cadillac Lyriq electric motors:

The Blazer EV SS can travel longer on a full charge than the Lyriq-V (302 miles vs. 285 miles).

The Blazer EV stops much shorter than the Lyriq:

The Blazer EV has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Lyriq doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Blazer EV SS handles at .89 G’s, while the Lyriq pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For greater off-road capability the Blazer EV SS has a 1.3 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Lyriq-V (7.5 vs. 6.2 inches), allowing the Blazer EV to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Blazer EV’s minimum ground clearance is .9 inch higher than on the Lyriq (7.9 vs. 7 inches).

The Chevrolet Blazer EV may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 to 600 pounds less than the Cadillac Lyriq.

The Blazer EV is 4.5 inches shorter than the Lyriq, making the Blazer EV easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Blazer EV has 2.3 inches more front headroom, .9 inches more front hip room and .4 inches more rear headroom than the Lyriq.

The Blazer EV’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Lyriq’s (1500 vs. 0 pounds).

The Blazer EV (except LT) offers an available heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Blazer EV has a standard rear wiper. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The Blazer EV’s headlights were rated “Acceptable” by the IIHS, while the Lyriq’s headlights are rated “Poor.”

Motor Trend performed a comparison test in its January 2024 issue and the Chevrolet Blazer EV RS eAWD won out over the Cadillac Lyriq Luxury AWD.

Motor Trend selected the Blazer EV as their 2024 Sport Utility of the Year. The Lyriq has never been chosen.

The Chevrolet Blazer outsold the Cadillac Lyriq by almost three to one during 2024.
